Center's Description
The Diamond Way Buddhist Center San Francisco belongs to the Karma Kagyu Lineage, one of the four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism. This lineage transmits the teachings of Diamond Way (Vajrayana) Buddhism, which fit and integrate well into our everyday lives. The Karma Kagyu Lineage emphasizes meditation, and is based on a direct, living transmission of the understanding of mind's true nature. Buddhism is not a belief-religion and is not based on dogmas. Following these teachings step by step, practitioners can observe with their own experiences and see whether the teachings and meditation practices truly work.

Diamond Way Buddhist Center in San Francisco is part of a worldwide network of Buddhist centers in the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. The centers were founded by Lama Ole Nydahl according to the wishes of H.H. the 16th Karmapa. They are now under the spiritual guidance of H.H. the 17th Karmapa, Thaye Dorje, and H.E. Shamar Rinpoche. They developed through a grass roots movement of lay people and are based on friendship and teamwork. The Diamond Way (Vajrayana) Buddhism opens the most skillfull methods of the Buddha to the modern world. It helps us discover and develop our inner richness for the benefit of all beings as well as ourselves.
