Independent Meditation Center Guide

"Mindfulness practice is very forgiving. It beckons to us to start over again, time after time after time, without judging us for the times we haven't managed to remember to drop in on ourselves."
Mark Williams, The Mindful Way through Depression.

Center's Description
If you would like to do zen meditation in the San Fernando Valley (in Los Angeles), you are invited to the Beginner's Mind Zen Center to share with us the experience of sitting, whether you have never sat before or have been practicing for 30 or 40 years. Shunryu Suzuki Roshi called this the "pure observation of yourself".

Meditation is 40 minutes of zazen and a service on Monday through Friday mornings, 6:45 to to 7:45, and Saturday mornings from 10 to 12, with two 30-minute periods of zazen and a service followed by a discussion. A lesson in zen meditation available at 9:45. There is also a yoga class on Monday evenings from 5:45 to 7:15, and a study group meeting on alternate Fridays from 7:30 to 9:30.

Please call in advance either if you will be coming for the first time to any of the above events, there being occasional modifications in the schedule, or if you would like a fee-less lesson.
