Independent Meditation Center Guide

"Meditation teaches you how to loosen your monkey-grip on your experience and create a kind of inner spaciousness and relaxation by letting go of control and allowing things to be the way they are."

Center's Description
It is a place for personal work and retreat; there are no programs, workshops., etc.

The prime feature for this aspect is the Samadhi Cave...a 12 foot diameter octagon, 7 feet below ground level.

Although the Hermitage is inspired by and patterned after the Vipassana tradition...thus functioning on a donation basis....people from all paths and traditions are welcome to visit and use the Samadhi Cave for sadhana.

The resident monk is well experienced with Vipassana meditation, starting his practice with Goenka in the early 70's; and likewise is well experienced in Hindu and other traditions.

Commonly visitors use the cave for a few days, a week or more, and occasionally one month. A second cave is under construction for those wishing to do retreat for more than one month.
