The American Buddhist Center was founded in 1996 under the umbrella of Unity Temple on the Plaza by the Reverend Ben Worth, a self-described recovering attorney. The American Buddhist Center is a forum for networking the many local and regional Buddhist organizations, while engaging in the joyous activities of spreading the Dharma. The American Buddhist Center of Unity Temple on the Plaza promotes meditation, education, and inspiration through a variety of activities and resources designed to enrich your spiritual journey, including: Training in meditation Opportunities to meditate in a supportive community Lectures and workshops on Buddhist philosophy, history, and practice A unique resource for people of all faiths and traditions to explore a variety of Buddhist perspectives and reach new levels of understanding Opportunities to participate in various Buddhist ceremonies A lending library of Buddhist reading materials A clearinghouse for information about Buddhist organizations in the Kansas City metropolitan area
