Center's Description | |
Vipassana (Insight) meditation is a technique taught by the Buddha in India about 2,500 years ago and preserved to this day. The practice is simple and direct. With correct intention and understanding, the mind becomes calm, purified and, ultimately, it leads to freedom from all suffering. The Bellingham Insight Meditation Society in the Vipassana and Theravada tradition meets every Tuesday from 7- 9 PM. Sitting meditation begins at 7 PM. For new or first time attendance, please contact John Robinson at 360-758-7260 or by e-mail. Sitting meditation practice every Tuesday 12-12:45 PM with Dhamma discussion to follow.
On the 2nd Sunday of each month, a half-day retreat is held at the Dharma Hall from 9:30 am to noon, with alternating sitting and walking meditation practice. Orientation to Insight meditation: BIMS offers a brief orientation to Insight (Vipassana) meditation once a month. This is a chance for those new to the practice to ask questions about meditation and the vipassana group. Come to the "Annex" on the second floor at 6:00 PM the first Tuesday of the month. The "Annex" (2nd floor) and the Hall (3rd floor) are at 1101 N. State Street on the 3rd floor. Please take your shoes off before entering the room. Email John Robinson or call 360-758-7260 for more information. |
