Independent Meditation Center Guide

"Meditation teaches you how to loosen your monkey-grip on your experience and create a kind of inner spaciousness and relaxation by letting go of control and allowing things to be the way they are."

Center's Description
There is a wonderful community at Pacific Zen Institute: friendly and welcoming and interesting to talk to, with a sense of humor and a sense of art and a sense of hospitality. There's music and laughing as well as meditation, silence and depth.

Santa Rosa is the original home of Pacific Zen Institute. We have regular meditation programs on Monday evenings and Sunday mornings. We also host classes and short retreats, as well as longer retreats in other North Bay locations. Our director and founding teacher is John Tarrant Roshi, author of Bring Me the Rhinoceros and Other Zen Koans to Save Your Life, and The Light Inside the Dark: Zen, Soul and the Spiritual Life.
