Center's Description
In June of 1997, Seon Master Dae Haeng Sunim gave a series of Dharma talks in both Los Angeles and Chicago. The Dharma talks were sponsored and hosted by the HanMaUm Branch Centers in the respective areas. Each session was a hugh success, especially in the Chicago area where there were a high number of non-Korean attendees. Following her Dharma talk, the Seon Master felt it was necessary to offer teachings in English. As a result, a class in English was established by her on June 29th 1997 at the HanMaUm Zen Center Chicago Branch center. The Seon Master appointed her disciple, interpreter, and assistant, Chongwol Sunim, to be the resident teacher for the English speaking practitioners. Classes have continued from that day on.
