| The Yellow Springs Dharma Center, 502 Livermore Street, Yellow Springs Ohio, is a Buddhist meditation center offering daily meditation at 7a.m. Monday through Friday and in the evenings at 7p.m., Sunday through Friday. Vipassana Meditation is offered at 8a.m.every Sunday and Zen meditation is offered from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. every Saturday. The Children's Hour, designed for family practice, happens most Sunday mornings from 10:00am -11:00 a.m., September through April. Those new to meditation and wanting to familiarize themselves with a simple beginning practice are invited to attend a brief orientation session regularly given twice monthly on Monday evenings. The YSDC sponsors study groups, book discussions, day-long retreats and a week-long retreat every June at the Glen Helen Forest Outdoor Education Center. A lending library is available for community use. Visiting Teachers from the Theravadin, Zen and Vajrayana or Tibetan Buddhist Traditions frequently hold teaching and practice retreats. When we have retreats especially our annual 1 week June retreat in the Glen Helen Nature Reserve our participants pay a fee that covers the teachers transportation costs plus the costs of lodging and 3 meals per day. That cost has been running about $200 to $250 per that week. We have made it a policy not to charge for the teachings themselves and ask participants to make donations in the spirit of Dana to the meditation teacher after the retreat. |
