Center's Description | |
Three Rivers Dharma Center is a Vajrayana Buddhist organization of the Drikung Kagyu lineage under the patronage of the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche and Drikung Chungtsang Rinpoche. Khenchen Konchog Gyaltshen Rinpoche of the Tibetan Meditation Center in Frederick, MD founded Three Rivers Dharma Center in 1993 and serves as our spiritual guide. Since it's founding, TRDC has helped make the Buddha's teachings accessible in the Pittsburgh area through teachings by many extraordinary Tibetan lamas (teachers), group study and practice and participation in various interfaith dialogs. The most notable activity of Three Rivers Dharma Center was our fortunate participation in hosting Gyalwang Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, for teachings in 1998. Three Rivers Dharma Center is committed to providing the Pittsburgh region with access to the timeless, practical teachings of the Buddha. While the center is established in the Drikung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, we support a nonsectarian view that facilitates understanding between people of all backgrounds. All are welcome to join our regularly scheduled and special events to experience the rich and transformative teachings of buddhism. It is our sincere aspiration that all who share in this experience find peace and happiness and are freed of suffering. Three Rivers Dharma Center is located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh above Mandala Books at 211 S. Craig St. We meet weekly for practice and for special holidays and teachings. For more information on our activities, see our schedule. |
