Center's Description
The Zen Centre of Vancouver provides a supportive place for the instruction and practise of Zen Buddhism. Founded in 1970, the Centre is located in south central Vancouver. New people interested in the Centre should call first. An initial meeting must be arranged with the ordained staff to learn about the Centre, it's activities, Zen Buddhism, be instructed in zazen (Zen meditation), and to discuss any questions. A donation is expected for this.

There are many zazen meetings during the week. People are welcome to attend after the initial meeting. Community events include work days, ceremonies and various gatherings. Discussion of Zen practice is possible with the resident Zen Osho. This can be after the meetings or by arranging a one-on-one meeting for established students. One-day intensives are held monthly and seven-days intensives, traditionally called sesshins, are held four times a year. Rooms are available for both short-term and long-term residential Zen students.
